Journal ArticleDOI
Molecular mapping in tropical maize (Zea mays L.) using microsatellite markers. 2. Quantitative trait loci (QTL) for grain yield, plant height, ear height and grain moisture.
S. T. Sibov,Cláudio Lopes de Souza,Antonio Augusto Franco Garcia,Adelmo Rezende Silva,Alexandre Franco Garcia,Claudete Aparecida Mangolin,Claudete Aparecida Mangolin,Luciana Lasry Benchimol,Anete Pereira de Souza +8 more
TL;DR: Mapping analysis identified genomic regions associated with two or more traits in a manner that was consistent with correlation among traits, supporting either pleiotropy or tight linkage among QTL.
Journal ArticleDOI
Soybean ( Glycine max ) Root Lignification Induced by Ferulic Acid. The Possible Mode of Action
W. D. dos Santos,M. L. L. Ferrarese,Celso Vataru Nakamura,K. S. M. Mourão,Claudete Aparecida Mangolin,Osvaldo Ferrarese-Filho +5 more
TL;DR: Results suggest that ferulic acid may be channeled into the phenylpropanoid pathway (by the 4CL reaction) and, further, may increase the lignin monomer amount solidifying the cell wall and restricting the root growth.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic diversity in tropical maize inbred lines: heterotic group assignment and hybrid performance determined by RFLP markers.
Luciana Lasry Benchimol,C. L. de Souza,Antonio Augusto Franco Garcia,P. M. S. Kono,Claudete Aparecida Mangolin,A. M. M. Barbosa,Alexandre Siqueira Guedes Coelho,A. P. de Souza +7 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that RFLP-based GDs are efficient and reliable to assess and allocate genotypes from tropical maize populations into heterotic groups, but are not suitable for predicting the performance of line crosses from genetically differentheterotic groups.
Journal ArticleDOI
Efficiency of RAPD versus SSR markers for determining genetic diversity among popcorn lines.
A. A. Leal,Claudete Aparecida Mangolin,A. T. do Amaral Júnior,Leandro Simões Azeredo Gonçalves,Carlos Alberto Scapim,A. S. Mott,I. B. O. Eloi,V. Cordovés,M. F. P. da Silva +8 more
TL;DR: Correlation between genetic distances obtained through RAPD and SSR markers was relatively high, indicating that both techniques are efficient for evaluating genetic diversity in the genotypes of popcorn that the authors evaluated, though RAPDs yielded more polymorphisms.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mapping QTLs for kernel oil content in a tropical maize population.
Claudete Aparecida Mangolin,C. L. de Souza,A. Garcia,Alexandre Franco Garcia,S. T. Sibov,A. P. de Souza +5 more
TL;DR: To map quantitative trait locus (QTLs) and estimate their effects for kernel oil content in a tropical maize population, a genetic map with 75 microsatellites was developed and the QTLs were mapped using the composite interval map (CIM).
