Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of oral hygiene involving toothbrushing versus chlorhexidine in the prevention of ventilator-associated pneumonia: a randomized study
Cláudia Fernanda de Lacerda Vidal,Aurora Karla de Lacerda Vidal,José Gildo de Moura Monteiro,Aracele Tenório de Almeida Cavalcanti,Ana Paula da Costa Henriques,Márcia Oliveira,Michele M. G. Godoy,Mirella Coutinho,Pollyanna Dutra Sobral,Claudia Ângela Vilela,Barbara Gomes,Marta Amorim Leandro,Ulisses Ramos Montarroyos,Ricardo Arraes de Alencar Ximenes,Heloísa Ramos Lacerda +14 more
TL;DR: The results obtained showed that, among patients undergoing toothbrushing there was a significant reduction in duration of mechanical ventilation, and a tendency to reduce the incidence of VAP and length of ICU stay, although without statistical significance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ciprofloxacin-resistant and extended-spectrum β-lactamase-producing Escherichia coli ST410 strain carrying the mcr-1 gene associated with bloodstream infection.
Igor Vasconcelos Rocha,Carlos Alberto das Neves Andrade,Túlio de Lima Campos,Antonio Mauro Rezende,Nilma Cintra Leal,Cláudia Fernanda de Lacerda Vidal,Danilo Elias Xavier +6 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Rapid Detection of Echinocandins Resistance by MALDI-TOF MS in Candida parapsilosis Complex
Ana Emília M. Roberto,Danilo Elias Xavier,Esteban Espinosa Vidal,Cláudia Fernanda de Lacerda Vidal,Rejane Pereira Neves,Reginaldo Gonçalves de Lima-Neto +5 more
TL;DR: It was possible to determine the breakpoint of the clinical yeasts by MALDI-TOF that presented high agreement with the clinical laboratory standard institute (CLSI) reference method and was shown to be powerful when it exploits antifungal susceptibility testing assays.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diverse and emerging molecular mechanisms award polymyxins resistance to Enterobacteriaceae clinical isolates from a tertiary hospital of Recife, Brazil.
Igor Vasconcelos Rocha,Natally dos Santos Silva,Carlos Alberto das Neves Andrade,Cláudia Fernanda de Lacerda Vidal,Nilma Cintra Leal,Danilo Elias Xavier +5 more
TL;DR: Diverse mechanisms of polymyxins resistance were identified among clinical Enterobacteriaceae from a tertiary hospital of Recife, Brazil, such as plasmid-mediated M CR-1 and MCR-5; IS903-interruption of mgrB and mutation in CrrAB regulatory system.
Journal ArticleDOI
Partnership among hospitals to reduce healthcare associated infections: a quasi-experimental study in Brazilian ICUs.
Ladjane Santos Wolmer de Melo,Maria Verônica Monteiro de Abreu,Bernuarda Roberta de Oliveira Santos,Maria das Graças Washington Casimiro Carreteiro,Maria Fernanda Aparecida Moura de Souza,Maria Carolina Andrade Lins de Albuquerque,Cláudia Fernanda de Lacerda Vidal,Heloísa Ramos Lacerda +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe the intervention implemented in intensive care units (ICUs) to reduce HAIs through collaborative project and analyze the variation over 18 months in the incidence density (ID) of the three main HAIs: ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP), central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSIs) and catheter-related urinary tract infections (CAUTI) and also the length of stay and mortality in these ICUs.
