Journal ArticleDOI
Development of a technique for monitoring the contamination of human semen samples with leukocytes
Csilla Krausz,Csilla Krausz,Katrine West,Katrine West,Donna W. Buckingham,Donna W. Buckingham,R. John Aitken,R. John Aitken +7 more
TL;DR: The only cells present in the human ejaculate possessing detectable receptors for FMLP and capable of generating reactive oxygen species in response to this reagent come from the leukocyte population.
Journal ArticleDOI
Male infertility and the Y chromosome
TL;DR: The assumption that AZFrepresented a single Y-linked gene was overturned when Vogt et al. (1996) observed that Y chromosome micro-deletions follow a certain deletion pattern, with threerecurrently deleted nonoverlapping subregions in prox-imal, middle, and distal Yq11, designated “AZFa,’“AZFb,” and “azFc,” respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Association between Varicocele, Premature Ejaculation and Prostatitis Symptoms: Possible Mechanisms
Francesco Lotti,Giovanni Corona,Mario Mancini,Carlo Biagini,Giovanni M. Colpi,Selene Degli Innocenti,E. Filimberti,Mauro Gacci,Csilla Krausz,Alessandra Sforza,Gianni Forti,Edoardo Mannucci,Mario Maggi +12 more
TL;DR: Signs and symptoms of prostatitis are more common in varicocele patients, who more often complain of premature ejaculation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Progesterone stimulates p42 extracellular signal-regulated kinase (p42erk) in human spermatozoa.
Michaela Luconi,Csilla Krausz,Tullio Barni,Gabriella B. Vannelli,Gianni Forti,Elisabetta Baldi +5 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that short-term incubation of spermatozoa with progesterone induces phosphorylation and activation of ERKs, resulting in redistribution of the proteins from the post-acrosomal region to the equatorial segment within the sperm head.
Journal ArticleDOI
Absence of mutations involving the INSL3 gene in human idiopathic cryptorchidism.
TL;DR: Both exons of the human INSL3 gene were sequenced in 31 men who presented with idiopathic unilateral or bilateral cryptorchidism and results suggest that mutations involving this gene are not a common cause of crypt orchidism in man.
