Journal ArticleDOI
Interleukin 10 production correlates with pathology in human Leishmania donovani infections.
H.W. Ghalib,Marcia Regina Piuvezam,Yasir A. W. Skeiky,M. Siddig,F.A. Hashim,Ahmed M. Elhassan,D M Russo,Steven G. Reed +7 more
TL;DR: Results indicate the production of IL-10 during L. donovani infection, and suggest a role for this cytokine in the regulation of immune responsiveness during visceral leishmaniasis.
Journal Article
IL-10 mediates susceptibility to Trypanosoma cruzi infection.
Steven G. Reed,C E Brownell,D M Russo,João Santana da Silva,Kenneth H. Grabstein,Philip J. Morrissey +5 more
TL;DR: The role of endogenous IL-10 production in the susceptibility to T.cruzi infection was demonstrated by the protection of highly susceptible C57BL/6 mice against acute disease and death from T. cruzi by the administration of neutralizing anti-IL-10 mAb.
Journal Article
Human T cell responses to gp63, a surface antigen of Leishmania.
D M Russo,J. M. Burns,E M Carvalho,R J Armitage,Kenneth H. Grabstein,L L Button,W R McMaster,Steven G. Reed +7 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that gp63 is a strong T cell immunogen and that the recombinant and native forms can elicit the same type of T cell response from infected patients.
Journal Article
Stimulation of human T lymphocytes by Leishmania lipophosphoglycan-associated proteins.
TL;DR: Proteins associated with LPG were effective in eliciting patient T cell responses, whereas the glycolipid enriched moiety was weakly effective or ineffective at stimulating these responses.
Journal Article
Antigen-reactive gamma delta T cells in human leishmaniasis.
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that several clinical forms of leishmaniasis induced elevated numbers of gamma delta T cells that responded specifically to Leishmania Ag in vitro, which may impact the outcome of clinical disease.
