Aneil Malhotra,Harshil Dhutia,Harshil Dhutia,Gherardo Finocchiaro,Sabiha Gati,Ian Beasley,Paul Clift,Charlotte Cowie,Antoinette Kenny,Jamil Mayet,David Oxborough,Kiran Patel,Guido E Pieles,Dhrubo Rakhit,D R Ramsdale,Leonard M. Shapiro,John Somauroo,Graham Stuart,Amanda Varnava,John R. Walsh,Zaheer Yousef,Maite Tome,Michael Papadakis,Sanjay Sharma +23 more
TL;DR: The incidence of sudden cardiac death among previously screened adolescent soccer players was 1 per 14,794 person‐years, or 6.8 per 100,000 athletes; most of these deaths were due to cardiomyopathies that had not been detected on screening.
Journal ArticleDOI
An echocardiographic assessment of cardiac morphology and common ECG findings in teenage professional soccer players: reference ranges for use in screening
TL;DR: Chamber dimensions, left ventricular wall thickness and mass, and aortic root size were all greater than predicted for controls after matching for age and surface area and the type of hypertrophy found reflected the combined endurance and strength based training undertaken.
Journal Article
Percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty and stent insertion in a single left coronary artery.
TL;DR: This case shows that when the anatomy is not too abnormal, even multivessel PTCA and stent employment can be performed successfully in single coronary arteries.
Journal ArticleDOI
QT Peak Prolongation Is Not Associated with Left Ventricular Hypertrophy in Teenage Professional Football Players
Samir Alchaghouri,Kenneth Y.K. Wong,Raphael A. Perry,D R Ramsdale,John Somauroo,Jason R. Pyatt +5 more
TL;DR: This study tests the hypothesis that QT peak prolongation correlates with LV mass index in apparently healthy young football players and finds that it is associated with left ventricular hypertrophy in patients with hypertension.
