TL;DR: In this paper, a pentagonal prototiles tiling of the surface of Al70Pd21Mn9 was constructed using high-resolution images of the terraces, and the results provided direct confirmation that the fivefold surface of i-Al-Pd-Mn is a termination of the bulk structure.
