Hybrid Silicon Photonic-Lithium Niobate Electro-Optic Mach-Zehnder Modulator Beyond 100 GHz

TL;DR: In this paper, an ultra-high-bandwidth Mach-Zehnder EOM based on Si photonics is shown, made using conventional lithography and wafer-scale fabrication, bonded to an unpatterned Lithium Niobate (LN) thin film.
Journal ArticleDOI

A heterogeneously integrated silicon photonic/lithium niobate travelling wave electro-optic modulator.

TL;DR: This manuscript demonstrates the most CMOS-compatible thin-film lithium niobate modulator to date, which has electro-optic 3 dB bandwidths of 30.6 GHz and half-wave voltages of 6.7 V×cm.
Journal ArticleDOI

Improved broadband performance of an adjoint shape optimized waveguide crossing using a Levenberg-Marquardt update.

TL;DR: An adjoint shape optimization algorithm with a compound figure of merit is derived and its use with both gradient descent and Levenberg-Marquart updates for the case of SiO2-buried SOI coplanar waveguide crossings is demonstrated.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Silicon Photonic Single-Sideband Generation with Dual-Parallel Mach-Zehnder Modulators

TL;DR: In this paper, the first silicon photonic single-sideband (SSB) modulator with dual-parallel Mach-Zehnder modulators (MZMs) operating near 1550 nm with a measured carrier suppression of 27 dB and at least 12 dB sideband suppression at 1 GHz.
