Journal ArticleDOI

Hepatic ductular hypoplasia associated with characteristic facies, vertebral malformations, retarded physical, mental, and sexual development, and cardiac murmur.

TL;DR: Among 30 children with hepatic ductular hypoplasia and normal extrahepatic bile ducts, 15 formed a hemogeneous, readily recognizable group that has characteristic facies, a mesosystolic murmur, vertebral arch defects, growth retardation, mental retardation and hypogonadism.
Journal ArticleDOI

Syndromic paucity of interlobular bile ducts (Alagille syndrome or arteriohepatic dysplasia): Review of 80 cases

TL;DR: Patients with syndromic PILBD consisted of supplementation of medium-chain triglycerides and fat-soluble vitamins and administration of cholestyramine or phenobarbital, and an autosomal dominant mode of transmission, with variable penetrance, seems likely.
Journal ArticleDOI

Chronic active hepatitis associated with antiliver/kidney microsome antibody type 1: A second type of “autoimmune” hepatitis

TL;DR: Sixty‐five patients with histologically proven chronic active hepatitis of unknown cause but associated with the antiliver/kidney microsome antibody type 1, confirmed by immunofluorescence and immunoprecipitation, were selected as forming a special entity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Portal obstruction in children. I. Clinical investigation and hemorrhage risk

TL;DR: Angiography should be limited to children with a history of gastrointestinal tract bleeding for whom a surgical portosystemic shunt is being considered, and the presence of tense varices and congestion of esophageal mucosa clearly augmented the risk of bleeding.
Journal ArticleDOI

Autoimmune Hepatitis Associated with Anti-actin Antibodies in Children and Adolescents

TL;DR: A group of autoimmune hepatitis in children characterized by the presence of serum anti-actin antibodies is defined and indications that immunosuppressive therapy improves liver function are indicated, which suggest that progressive liver failure may occur in early adulthood and may require liver transplantation.
