Saiz-Salinas,Carles San Vicente,Samuel Somot,José Templado,Xavier Turon,Dimitris Vafidis,Roger Villanueva,Eleni Voultsiadou +38 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors combined an extensive literature analysis with expert opinions to update publicly available estimates of major taxa in this marine ecosystem and to revise and update several species lists.
Journal ArticleDOI
An ecological perspective on the deployment and design of low-crested and other hard coastal defence structures
Laura Airoldi,Marco Abbiati,Michael W. Beck,Stephen J. Hawkins,Per R. Jonsson,Daniel Martin,P. S. Moschella,Andreas Sundelöf,Richard C. Thompson,Per Åberg +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the DELOS (Environmental Design of Low Crested Coastal Defense Structures, EVK3-CT-2000-00041) project indicates that the construction of coastal defence structures will affect coastal ecosystems.
Journal Article
Symbiotic polychaetes: Review of known species
Daniel Martin,Temir A. Britayev +1 more
TL;DR: The main characteristic features of symbiotic polychaetes and their relationships are discussed and include systematic account, distribution within host groups, host specificity, intra-host distribution, location on the host, infestation prevalence and intensity, and morphological, behavioural and/or physiological and reproductive adaptations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Regulation of Cu/Zn-Superoxide Dismutase Expression via the Phosphatidylinositol 3 Kinase/Akt Pathway and Nuclear Factor-κB
TL;DR: A new mechanism by which the PI3K/Akt pathway protects cells against oxidative stress is illustrated, involving the upregulation of Cu/Zn-SOD gene expression, and the results identify NF-κB as a key mediator in the regulation of this gene.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ecological impact of coastal defence structures on sediment and mobile fauna: Evaluating and forecasting consequences of unavoidable modifications of native habitats
Daniel Martin,F. Bertasi,Marina Antonia Colangelo,Mindert de Vries,Matthew Frost,Stephen J. Hawkins,Enrique Macpherson,P.S. Moschella,M. Paola Satta,Richard C. Thompson,Victor Ugo Ceccherelli +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of coastal defence structures, mainly low crested (LCS), on the surrounding intertidal and subtidal infaunal assemblages and mobile fauna are analyzed.
