Journal ArticleDOI
The relationship between impulsivity and impulse control disorders in Parkinson's disease
Ioannis U. Isaias,Chiara Siri,Roberto Cilia,Danilo De Gaspari,Gianni Pezzoli,Angelo Antonini +5 more
TL;DR: Male gender and higher impulsivity score, but not dose and kind of dopaminergic medications, were associated in PD with increased probability of impulsive disorders at MIDI, and individual susceptibility factors, such as high impulsivity and depression, underline abnormal behaviors in PD patients treated with stable dopaminaergic therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Functional Abnormalities Underlying Pathological Gambling in Parkinson Disease
Roberto Cilia,Chiara Siri,Giorgio Marotta,Ioannis U. Isaias,Danilo De Gaspari,Margherita Canesi,Gianni Pezzoli,Angelo Antonini +7 more
TL;DR: It is found that PD patients with PG have abnormal resting state dysfunction of the mesocorticolimbic network possibly associated with a drug-induced overstimulation of relatively preserved reward-related neuronal systems, which supports the concept that PG is a "behavioral" addictive disorder.
Journal Article
MR Imaging of the Superior Profile of the Midbrain: Differential Diagnosis between Progressive Supranuclear Palsy and Parkinson Disease
Andrea Righini,Angelo Antonini,Roberta De Notaris,E. Bianchini,Nicoletta Meucci,Giorgio Sacilotto,Margherita Canesi,Danilo De Gaspari,Fabio Triulzi,Gianni Pezzoli +9 more
TL;DR: An abnormal superior profile of the midbrain facilitates the distinction of PSP from PD and may support the clinical differential diagnosis of parkinsonism.
Journal ArticleDOI
LRRK2 G2019S mutation and Parkinson's disease: a clinical, neuropsychological and neuropsychiatric study in a large Italian sample.
Stefano Goldwurm,Michela Zini,Alessio Di Fonzo,Alessio Di Fonzo,Danilo De Gaspari,Chiara Siri,Erik J. Simons,Marina van Doeselaar,Silvana Tesei,Angelo Antonini,Margherita Canesi,Anna Zecchinelli,Claudio Mariani,Nicoletta Meucci,Giorgio Sacilotto,Roberto Cilia,Ioannis U. Isaias,Alba Bonetti,Francesca Sironi,Sara Ricca,Ben A. Oostra,Vincenzo Bonifati,Vincenzo Bonifati,Gianni Pezzoli +23 more
TL;DR: Clinical features in carriers were those of typical, idiopathic Parkinson's disease, however, behavioural abnormalities were frequent, suggesting a more widespread limbic involvement in G2019S carriers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Randomized study of sertraline and low-dose amitriptyline in patients with Parkinson's disease and depression: Effect on quality of life
Angelo Antonini,Silvana Tesei,Anna Zecchinelli,Paolo Barone,Danilo De Gaspari,Margherita Canesi,Giorgio Sacilotto,Nicoletta Meucci,Claudio Mariani,Gianni Pezzoli +9 more
TL;DR: The improvement in specific PDQ‐39 subscores (mobility, activities of daily living, and stigma) suggests that depression affects patient self‐perception of motor function and further emphasizes the need for its treatment.
