The last millennium climate reanalysis project: Framework and first results

TL;DR: In this article, the authors use linear, univariate forward models (PSMs) that map climate variables to proxy measurements by fitting proxy data to 2m air temperature from gridded instrumental temperature data; the linear PSMs are then used to predict proxy values from the prior estimate.
Journal ArticleDOI

Initial skill assessment of the California Harmful Algae Risk Mapping (C-HARM) system.

TL;DR: Model lead times are best correlated with DA measured with solid phase adsorption toxin tracking (SPATT) and marine mammal strandings from DA toxicosis, suggesting long-term benefits of the HAB predictions to decision-making.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Sixteen-year Decline in Dissolved Oxygen in the Central California Current.

TL;DR: Hydrographic cruise observations of declining dissolved oxygen collected along CalCOFI Line 66.7 off of Monterey Bay are presented, and a box model suggests that small annual changes in dissolved oxygen in source regions are sufficient to be the primary driver of the mid-depth declines.
