Linear-Time Poisson-Disk Patterns
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present an algorithm for generating Poisson-disc patterns taking O(N) time to generate $N$ points, using an explicit model of point arrival times under a uniform Poisson process.

Matroids Hitting Sets and Unsupervised Dependency Grammar Induction.
TL;DR: This paper formulates a novel problem on graphs: find the minimal subset of edges in a fully connected graph, such that the resulting graph contains all spanning trees for a set of specifed sub-graphs.

Toward using the network as a switch: on the use of TDM in linear optical networks
David R. Karger,Muriel Medard +1 more
TL;DR: It is shown that time-division multiplexing (TDM) can be used to operate bus and ring architectures in a manner akin to a switch, and substantially reduces the amount of hardware needed to utilize fully the available bandwidth in a range of optical networks.
