Neuropathology of human Alzheimer disease after immunization with amyloid-beta peptide: a case report.
James A. R. Nicoll,James A. R. Nicoll,David Wilkinson,David Wilkinson,Clive Holmes,Clive Holmes,Phil Steart,Hannah Markham,Hannah Markham,Roy O. Weller,Roy O. Weller +10 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that the immune response generated against the peptide elicited clearance of Aβ plaques in this patient and strongly resemble the changes seen after Aβ immunotherapy in mouse models of AD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-term effects of Aβ42 immunisation in Alzheimer's disease: follow-up of a randomised, placebo-controlled phase I trial
Clive Holmes,Clive Holmes,Delphine Boche,David Wilkinson,David Wilkinson,Ghasem Yadegarfar,Ghasem Yadegarfar,Vivienne Hopkins,Antony James Bayer,Roy W. Jones,Roger Bullock,Seth Love,James Neal,Elina Zotova,James A. R. Nicoll +14 more
TL;DR: Although immunisation with Abeta(42) resulted in clearance of amyloid plaques in patients with Alzheimer's disease, this clearance did not prevent progressive neurodegeneration and there was no evidence of improved survival.
Journal ArticleDOI
Anti-tuberculosis drug resistance in the world: The WHO/IUATLD Global Project on Anti-Tuberculosis Drug Resistance Surveillance. Geneva: World Health Organization, 1997. 228pp. Price Sw. fr 25/US$22.50 (in developing countries Sw. fir 17.50). (Reference WHO/TB/97.229)
Journal ArticleDOI
A distinct Hox code for the branchial region of the vertebrate head
Paul Hunt,Massimo Gulisano,Martyn Cook,Mai Har Sham,Antonio Faiella,David Wilkinson,Edoardo Boncinelli,Robb Krumlauf +7 more
TL;DR: It is reported here that, with the exception of the labial subfamily, paralogues show identical expression limits in rhombomeres, cranial ganglia and branchial arches, providing a combinatorial Hox code for the branchial region that seems to be different in organization to that of the trunk.
Journal ArticleDOI
Spectrum of heart disease and risk factors in a black urban population in South Africa (the Heart of Soweto Study): a cohort study
Karen Sliwa,David Wilkinson,David Wilkinson,Craig Hansen,Lucas Ntyintyane,Kemi Tibazarwa,Anthony Becker,Simon Stewart,Simon Stewart +8 more
TL;DR: There is strong evidence that epidemiological transition in Soweto, South Africa has broadened the complexity and spectrum of heart disease in this community, including a high prevalence of modifiable risk factors for atherosclerotic disease and a combination of infectious and non-communicable forms of heart Disease.
