Journal ArticleDOI

Purification and ex vivo expansion of postnatal human marrow mesodermal progenitor cells

TL;DR: MPCs that proliferate without obvious senescence under clinically applicable conditions and differentiate at the single-cell level not only into mesenchymal cells but also cells of visceral mesoderm may be an ideal source of stem cells for treatment of genetic or degenerative disorders affecting cells of mesodermal origin.
Journal ArticleDOI

Notochordal cells interact with nucleus pulposus cells: regulation of proteoglycan synthesis.

TL;DR: No difference in chondroitin sulfate chain size in notochordal-stimulated nucleus pulposus cells was observed which is consistent with an up-regulation in aggrecan core protein synthesis, and suggests notchordal cells play a vital role in maintaining disc integrity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Identification of genes responsible for osteoblast differentiation from human mesodermal progenitor cells

TL;DR: The studies indicate that in vitro differentiation cultures in which MPCs are induced to one of multiple cell fates should be very useful for defining signals important for lineage-specific differentiation.
Journal ArticleDOI

CD44 and β1 Integrin Mediate Ovarian Carcinoma Cell Adhesion to Peritoneal Mesothelial Cells

TL;DR: Results suggest that both CD44 and the β1 integrin heterodimers may play a role in mediating the adhesion of ovarian carcinoma cells to mesothelial cells.
