Protection of macaques against vaginal transmission of a pathogenic HIV-1/SIV chimeric virus by passive infusion of neutralizing antibodies.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that antibodies can affect transmission and subsequent disease course after vaginal SHIV-challenge, and the data begin to define the type of antibody response that could play a role in protection against mucosal transmission of HIV-1.
Journal ArticleDOI

Protection of macaques against vaginal transmission of a pathogenic HIV-1/SIV chimeric virus by passive infusion of neutralizing antibodies

TL;DR: In this paper, the development of the human immunodeficiency virus-1 (HIV-1)/simian immunoviciency virus (SIV) chimeric virus macaque model (SHIV) permits the in vivo evaluation of anti-HIV1 envelope glycoprotein immune responses.

Short communication Induction of HIV-specific functional immune responses by a multiclade HIV-1 DNA vaccine candidate in healthy Ugandans

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that immunization with DNA alone induces CTL and lymphoproliferative responses in a population that will participate in a phase IIb study evaluating HIV-1 DNA priming followed by boosting with a replication-defective recombinant adenovirus vector.
