Peptides or proteins convert under some conditions from their soluble forms into highly ordered fibrillar aggregates. Such transitions can give rise to pathological conditions ranging from neurodegenerative disorders to systemic amyloidoses. In this review, we identify the diseases known to be associated with formation of fibrillar aggregates and the specific peptides and proteins involved in each case. We describe, in addition, that living organisms can take advantage of the inherent ability of proteins to form such structures to generate novel and diverse biological functions. We review recent advances toward the elucidation of the structures of amyloid fibrils and the mechanisms of their formation at a molecular level. Finally, we discuss the relative importance of the common main-chain and side-chain interactions in determining the propensities of proteins to aggregate and describe some of the evidence that the oligomeric fibril precursors are the primary origins of pathological behavior.

The word probiotic comes from the Greek “pro bios”, meaning „for life‟ and was first used by Lilly and Stillwell (1965) to describe “substances secreted by one microorganism that stimulate the growth of another (Sayes et al., 2018). Probiotics are defined by WHO/FAO (2006) as “live microorganisms, which when consumed in adequate amounts confer health benefit to the host”. The most commonly used probiotic strains belongs to heterogeneous group of lactic acid bacteria (LAB); Lactobacillus, Enterococcus, Streptococcus, Leuconostoc, Lactococcus, Pediococcus, Bifidobacterium and yeast Saccharomyces boulardii. Isolation and Characterization of Potential Probiotic Strains Isolated from Traditional Indian Fermented Foods

Actinomycetes isolate were obtained from soils samples collected from various ecological niches of Western Uttar Pradesh (Meerut). They were selected for their antimicrobial producing capabilities against some selected microbial strains including fungus (Aspergillus sp.), Yeast (Candida sp.), gram- stain-positive bacteria (Bacillus sp.) and gram-stain-negative bacteria (Burkholderia sp.). Out of 19 isolates, 12 (63%) were found to have antimicrobial activity, among them 53% and 26% isolates were found active against gram-stain-positive and gram-stain-negative bacteria, respectively. Antifungal activity was recorded in 42% isolates, among them 32% were active against Aspergillus sp. and 11% were found active against Candida sp. Only one isolate (SS12) was found to produce broad spectrum antibiotic effective against all test microorganisms. 16S rDNA sequencing and BIOLOG analysis of SS12 suggested that it may be a novel species of genus Streptomyces.

The agriculture land and fresh water resources are limited and the water crisis is further enhanced due to the global warming and the shortfall of better water management systems. The precision agriculture can play a very important role in curtailing this crisis by improving irrigation management techniques. These techniques can efficiently utilize the natural rainwater and ground water. It is also beneficial for the energy saving and achieving the better growth of crop. Further, to maintain the proper growth with optimal pesticide, the soil moisture of crop is needed to be maintained during its whole life cycle. Moisture of soil is an essential aspect for hydrology system that represents the typical circumstances in a limited volume of soil. An effective prediction of soil moisture can save the water and energy and it is essential to develop effective irrigation management system for this purpose. Prediction of soil moisture is vital for better irrigation management system. This paper describes result of experimental scenario for different machine learning regression techniques to predict the soil moisture.
