Pseudo-second order model for sorption processes

Peptides or proteins convert under some conditions from their soluble forms into highly ordered fibrillar aggregates. Such transitions can give rise to pathological conditions ranging from neurodegenerative disorders to systemic amyloidoses. In this review, we identify the diseases known to be associated with formation of fibrillar aggregates and the specific peptides and proteins involved in each case. We describe, in addition, that living organisms can take advantage of the inherent ability of proteins to form such structures to generate novel and diverse biological functions. We review recent advances toward the elucidation of the structures of amyloid fibrils and the mechanisms of their formation at a molecular level. Finally, we discuss the relative importance of the common main-chain and side-chain interactions in determining the propensities of proteins to aggregate and describe some of the evidence that the oligomeric fibril precursors are the primary origins of pathological behavior.

India has proposed the helium-cooled solid breeder blanket concept as a tritium breeding module to be tested in ITER. The module has lithium titanate for tritium breeding and beryllium for neutron multiplication. Beryllium also enhances tritium breeding. A design for the module is prepared for detailed analysis. Neutronic analysis is performed to assess the tritium breeding rate, neutron distribution, and heat distribution in the module. The tritium production distribution in submodules is evaluated to support the tritium transport analysis. The tritium breeding density in the radial direction of the module is also assessed for further optimization of the design. The heat deposition profile of the entire module is generated to support the heat removal circuit design. The estimated neutron spectrum in the radial direction also provides a more in-depth picture of the nuclear interactions inside the material zones. The total tritium produced in the HCSB module is around 13.87 mg per full day of operation of ITER, considering the 400 s ON time and 1400 s dwell time. The estimated nuclear heat load on the entire module is around 474 kW, which will be removed by the high-pressure helium cooling circuit. The heat deposition in the test blanket model (TBM) is huge (around 9 GJ) for an entire day of operation of ITER, which demonstrates the scale of power that can be produced through a fusion reactor blanket. As per the Brayton cycle, it is equivalent to 3.6 GJ of electrical energy. In terms of power production, this would be around 1655 MWh annually. The evaluation is carried out using the MCNP5 Monte Carlo radiation transport code and FEDNL 2.1 nuclear cross section data. The HCSB TBM neutronic performance demonstrates the tritium production capability and high heat deposition.

Neutronic analysis of Indian helium-cooled solid breeder tritium breeding module for testing in ITER

This paper presents the development and performance analysis of a solar conduction dryer (SCD) used for drying agricultural produce. Compared with other conventional solar dryers, which are mostly based on convection mode, it was found to be more efficient in terms of thermal efficiency, drying time, and drying rate. In addition to increasing the dryer's aperture area, reflectors were placed on both sides, which enhanced its thermal performance. Furthermore, reflectors can also be used as a closing cover to enhance the life of the covering material against rainstorms, hailstones, etc., when the dryer will not be used. The maximum temperature inside the dryer was 77.4 °C and 61.2 °C with and without the use of reflectors during no load conditions, while maximum temperatures inside the dryer with and without the use of reflectors measured 59.1 °C and 51.8 °C respectively during full load conditions. With and without reflectors, the drying efficiency of the developed solar dryer was found to be 59.4% and 50.09% respectively, which are much higher than that of other general solar dryers (∼35%). However, the drying rate varied between 1.525 to 0.005 g of water evaporated per gram of dry matter per hour when reflectors were used and 1.397 to 0.005 g without reflectors. A cost analysis showed that the capital invested for the development of SCD could be recovered in 1.02 years.

This presentation describes our progress to date in developing tools to mechanically parse the core models in the HL7 Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) DSTU2 Ballot, and produce corresponding Shape Expressions (ShEx) schemas. In it we describe the transformation process, and how the resulting artifacts can be used in modeling FHIR profiles, and its validation and information mapping. We also discuss our plans to integrate this process into the OpenRefine platform to provide a user-friendly interface to support RDF/FHIR data element harmonization and model transformation.
