Landscape as a continuum: an examination of the urban landscape structures and dynamics of Indianapolis City, 1991-2000, by using satellite images

TL;DR: It is suggested that the model developed in this study offers a more realistic and robust representation of the true nature of urban landscapes, as compared with the conventional method based on ‘hard classification’ of satellite imagery.
Journal ArticleDOI

The effects of urbanization on net primary productivity in southeastern China.

TL;DR: This research indicates that settlement, population and GDP have strongly negative correlation with NPP in Southeastern China, but the outcomes were nonlinear when population or GDP reached certain thresholds.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Comparative Study of Landsat TM and SPOT HRG Images for Vegetation Classification in the Brazilian Amazon

TL;DR: This research indicated that data fusion based on HRG multispectral and panchromatic data slightly improved vegetation classification accuracies: a 3.1 to 4.6 percent increase in the kappa coefficient compared with the classification results based on original HRG or TM mult ispectral images.
Journal ArticleDOI

Examining Land Use and Land Cover Spatiotemporal Change and Driving Forces in Beijing from 1978 to 2010

TL;DR: The results showed the effectiveness of using the object-oriented decision tree classification method for LULC classification with time series of Landsat images to effectively explain the detailed LULC change trajectories corresponding to different stages and give new insights for BeijingLULC change patterns.
Journal ArticleDOI

Land Changes Fostering Atlantic Forest Transition in Brazil: Evidence from the Paraíba Valley

TL;DR: In this article, the consequences of land changes on forest cover in the Paraiba Valley, Sao Paulo state, Brazil, from 1985 to 2011 were analyzed using multitemporal satellite image classifications to map eight land use and land cover classes.
