Journal ArticleDOI
Influence of timing of clopidogrel treatment on the efficacy and safety of bivalirudin in patients with non-ST-segment elevation acute coronary syndromes undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention: an analysis of the ACUITY (Acute Catheterization and Urgent Intervention Triage strategY) trial.
A. Michael Lincoff,Steven R. Steinhubl,Steven V. Manoukian,Derek P. Chew,Charles V. Pollack,Frederick Feit,James H. Ware,Michel E. Bertrand,E. Magnus Ohman,Walter Desmet,David A. Cox,Roxana Mehran,Gregg W. Stone +12 more
TL;DR: This post-hoc analysis suggests that in acute coronary syndrome patients, as long as clopidogrel is administered before or within 30 min of PCI treatment with bivalirudin alone is similarly effective to heparin plus a GP IIb/IIIa inhibitor in suppressing 30-day ischemic events with significantly less bleeding.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bioabsorbable Intracoronary Matrix for Prevention of Ventricular Remodeling After Myocardial Infarction
Sunil V. Rao,Uwe Zeymer,Pamela S. Douglas,Hussein R. Al-Khalidi,Jennifer A. White,Jingyu Liu,Howard Levy,Victor Guetta,C. Michael Gibson,Jean Francois Tanguay,Paul Vermeersch,Jerome Roncalli,Jarosław D. Kasprzak,Timothy D. Henry,Norbert Frey,Oscar H. Kracoff,Jay H. Traverse,Derek P. Chew,Jose Lopez-Sendon,Reinilde Heyrman,Mitchell W. Krucoff +20 more
TL;DR: Intracoronary deployment of BCM 2 to 5 days after successful reperfusion in subjects with large myocardial infarction did not reduce adverse LV remodeling or cardiac clinical events at 6 months.
Journal ArticleDOI
A randomised study of three different informational AIDS prior to coronary angiography, measuring patient recall, satisfaction and anxiety.
TL;DR: Despite careful design of an innovative audiovisual delivery technique aimed at optimising comprehension and aiding memory, recall of information was poor and informational aids showed no improvement and Modes of information delivery are not the key to patient assimilation of complex medical information.
Journal ArticleDOI
International Mobile-Health Intervention on Physical Activity, Sitting, and Weight: The Stepathlon Cardiovascular Health Study
Anand N. Ganesan,Anand N. Ganesan,Jennie Louise,Matthew Horsfall,Shane A Bilsborough,Jeroen M.L. Hendriks,Andrew D. McGavigan,Joseph B. Selvanayagam,Derek P. Chew +8 more
TL;DR: Distributed mHealth implementation of a low-cost life-style intervention is associated with short-term, reproducible, large-scale improvements in physical activity, sitting, and weight.
Journal ArticleDOI
A critical appraisal of platelet glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibition
Derek P. Chew,David J. Moliterno +1 more
TL;DR: A review of the relevant platelet biology is undertaken, the mechanisms that may contribute to suboptimal antiplatelet efficacy with these agents are discussed and insights from the clinical trials supporting these concepts are examined.
