Journal ArticleDOI
A laboratory-based hard x-ray monochromator for high-resolution x-ray emission spectroscopy and x-ray absorption near edge structure measurements
Gerald T. Seidler,Devon R. Mortensen,A. J. Remesnik,Joseph Pacold,N. A. Ball,Nichole Barry,M. Styczinski,Oliver Hoidn +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a laboratory-based Rowland-circle monochromator with a spherically bent crystal analyzer and an energy-resolving solid-state detector is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
An improved laboratory-based x-ray absorption fine structure and x-ray emission spectrometer for analytical applications in materials chemistry research
Evan P. Jahrman,William M. Holden,Alexander S. Ditter,Devon R. Mortensen,Gerald T. Seidler,Timothy T. Fister,Stosh A. Kozimor,Louis F. J. Piper,Jatinkumar Rana,Neil C. Hyatt,Martin C. Stennett +10 more
TL;DR: The design and performance of an improved XAFS and XES spectrometer based on the general conceptual design of Seidler et al. are reported, which enables a new class of routine applications that are incompatible with the mission and access model of the synchrotron light sources.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors report the design and performance of an improved spectrometer XAFS and XES based on the general conceptual design of Seidler, et al., which enables a new class of routine applications that are incompatible with the mission and access model of synchrotron x-ray light sources.
Journal ArticleDOI
Benchmark results and theoretical treatments for valence-to-core x-ray emission spectroscopy in transition metal compounds
Devon R. Mortensen,Gerald T. Seidler,Joshua J. Kas,Niranjan Govind,Craig P. Schwartz,Craig P. Schwartz,Sri Chaitanya Das Pemmaraju,David Prendergast +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the valence-to-core (VTC) region of the K-shell x-ray emission spectra from several Zn and Fe inorganic compounds was measured and compared with three existing theoretical treatments.
Journal ArticleDOI
Direct Observation of 4f Intrashell Excitation in Luminescent Eu Complexes by Time-Resolved X-ray Absorption Near Edge Spectroscopy
Joseph Pacold,David S. Tatum,David S. Tatum,Gerald T. Seidler,Kenneth N. Raymond,Kenneth N. Raymond,Xiaoyi Zhang,Andrew B. Stickrath,Devon R. Mortensen +8 more
TL;DR: Time-resolved X-ray absorption near edge structure (TR-XANES) measurements at the Eu L3 edge upon photoexcitation of several Eu(III)-based luminescent lanthanide complexes find an unambiguous signature of the 4f intrashell excitation that occurs upon energy transfer from the photoactive organic antennas to the Lanthanide species.
