Character of community response to volcanic crises at Sinabung and Kelud volcanoes
Supriyati Andreastuti,Eko Teguh Paripurno,Hendra Gunawan,Agus Budianto,Devy Kamil Syahbana,John S. Pallister +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a comparison of the crisis responses of the Sinabung and Kelud communities is carried out here in order to better understand problems, learn lessons and improve the process of Indonesia's community mitigation policies.
Journal ArticleDOI
The 2017–19 activity at Mount Agung in Bali (Indonesia): Intense unrest, monitoring, crisis response, evacuation, and eruption
Devy Kamil Syahbana,Kasbani Kasbani,Gede Suantika,Oktory Prambada,A. S. Andreas,Ugan B. Saing,Syegi Kunrat,Supriyati Andreastuti,Martanto Martanto,E. Kriswati,Yasa Suparman,Hanik Humaida,Sarah E. Ogburn,Peter J. Kelly,J. Wellik,Heather M. N. Wright,J. D. Pesicek,Rick L. Wessels,Christoph Kern,Michael Lisowski,A. K. Diefenbach,Michael P. Poland,François Beauducel,François Beauducel,John S. Pallister,R. G. Vaughan,Jacob B. Lowenstern +26 more
TL;DR: Efforts to forecast the behavior of the volcano, to quantify exclusion zones for evacuations, and to work with emergency responders and other government agencies to make decisions during a complex and tense volcanic crisis are summarized.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dyke intrusion between neighbouring arc volcanoes responsible for 2017 pre-eruptive seismic swarm at Agung.
TL;DR: The authors characterize the three-month period of unrest occurring prior to the 2017 Agung eruption (Bali, Indonesia) and observe a large uplift signal located at ~5 km from Agung summit corresponding to the emplacement of a 10”km deep magma intrusion between Agung edifice and Batur caldera, suggesting a potential magmatic connection between the two volcanic systems.
Journal ArticleDOI
Kawah Ijen volcanic activity: a review
Corentin Caudron,Corentin Caudron,Corentin Caudron,Devy Kamil Syahbana,Thomas Lecocq,Vincent J. van Hinsberg,Wendy McCausland,Antoine Triantafyllou,Thierry Camelbeeck,Alain Bernard,Surono +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, a review of Kawah Ijen's activity since 1770 is presented, with the purpose of reviewing the temporal evolution of its activity, including volcanic lake level and temperature measurements.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stress and mass changes at a “wet” volcano: Example during the 2011–2012 volcanic unrest at Kawah Ijen volcano (Indonesia)
Corentin Caudron,Corentin Caudron,Corentin Caudron,Thomas Lecocq,Devy Kamil Syahbana,Wendy McCausland,Arnaud Watlet,Arnaud Watlet,Thierry Camelbeeck,Alain Bernard,Surono +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the nature of stress and mass changes of the volcano is studied by combining seismic analyses and volcanic lake measurements that were made during the strongest unrest ever recorded by the seismic network at Kawah Ijen.
