Journal ArticleDOI

Development and Validation of a Novel Diagnostic Test for Human Brucellosis Using a Glyco-engineered Antigen Coupled to Magnetic Beads

TL;DR: The results indicate that, using this assay, it is possible to detect infection caused by the three main human brucellosis agents and make it an attractive diagnostic tool for using not only in clinics and Brucellosis reference laboratories but also in locations with limited laboratory infrastructure and/or minimally trained community health workers.
Journal ArticleDOI

BigA is a novel adhesin of Brucella that mediates adhesion to epithelial cells.

TL;DR: The identification in Brucella abortus of a novel adhesin that harbours a bacterial immunoglobulin‐like domain and it is demonstrated that this protein is involved in the adhesion to polarized epithelial cells such as the Caco‐2 and Madin–Darby canine kidney models targeting the bacteria to the cell–cell interaction membrane.
Journal ArticleDOI

A bacterial engineered glycoprotein as a novel antigen for diagnosis of bovine brucellosis.

TL;DR: The first recombinant glycoprotein antigen, an N-formylperosamine O-polysaccharide-protein conjugate (OAg-AcrA), is validated, suitable for the development of new standard immunological tests for screening and confirmatory diagnosis of bovine brucellosis in regions or countries with bru cellosis-control programs.
