Journal ArticleDOI
Coordination between leaf and stem traits related to leaf carbon gain and hydraulics across 32 drought-tolerant angiosperms
Atsushi Ishida,Takashi Nakano,Kenichi Yazaki,Sawako Matsuki,Nobuya Koike,Diego Lopez Lauenstein,Michiru Shimizu,Naoko Yamashita +7 more
TL;DR: Data indicate that differences in the functional types with contrasting plant strategies can be attributed to functional integration among leaf C economy, hydraulics, and leaf longevity, and that both leaf mass-based assimilation rates and stem density are key factors reflecting the different functions of plant species.
Journal ArticleDOI
De novo assembly and characterization of leaf transcriptome for the development of functional molecular markers of the extremophile multipurpose tree species Prosopis alba
Susana Torales,Maximo Rivarola,Maximo Rivarola,Maria Florencia Pomponio,Sergio Alberto González,Cintia V. Acuña,Paula Fernández,Paula Fernández,Diego Lopez Lauenstein,Anibal Verga,Horacio Esteban Hopp,Horacio Esteban Hopp,Norma Paniego,Norma Paniego,Susana N. Marcucci Poltri +14 more
TL;DR: The development of a leaf transcriptome and the identification of new molecular markers that could support functional genetic studies in natural and domesticated populations of this genus are described.
Journal ArticleDOI
Drought stress tolerance of Prosopis chilensis and Prosopis flexuosa species and their hybrids
TL;DR: The results suggest that hybridization does not result in individuals with intermediate mechanisms related to drought resistance, but with a unique trait combination leading to high growth when water availability is high and high survival under drought stress, similar to the more resistant parental species.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of functional SSR markers in Prosopis alba and their transferability across Prosopis species
Maria Florencia Pomponio,Cintia V. Acuña,Vivien Pentreath,Diego Lopez Lauenstein,Susana N. Marcucci Poltri,Susana Torales +5 more
TL;DR: The SSR markers developed in P.alba were easily transferred to other Prosopis species which did not have functional markers, and the cross-species transferability was high with high percentages of polymorphic loci.
