TL;DR: This Updated European Consensus Statement aims to support clinicians with research evidence and clinical experience from 63 experts of European and other countries in which ADHD in adults is recognized and treated, to increase awareness and knowledge of adult ADHD in and outside Europe.
Journal ArticleDOI
Adult Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Insomnia: an Update of the Literature.
TL;DR: Adults with ADHD should be assessed for insomnia, which is frequently comorbid, and both conditions should be treated.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Association Between Insomnia and Sleep Duration in Adults With Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder: Results From a General Population Study
Dora Wynchank,Margreet ten Have,Denise Bijlenga,Brenda W.J.H. Penninx,Aartjan T.F. Beekman,Femke Lamers,Ron de Graaf,J. J. Sandra Kooij +7 more
TL;DR: Both clinically significant ADHD symptoms and inattention and hyperactivity symptom dimensions were consistently associated with insomnia symptoms and altered sleep duration, confirming that sleep disturbances should be assessed and given appropriate clinical attention in adults with ADHD.
Journal ArticleDOI
ADHD, circadian rhythms and seasonality
Dora Wynchank,Denise Bijlenga,Femke Lamers,Tannetje I. Bron,Wim H. Winthorst,Suzan W. N. Vogel,Brenda W.J.H. Penninx,Aartjan T.F. Beekman,J. J. Sandra Kooij +8 more
TL;DR: Both seasonal and circadian rhythm disturbances are significantly associated with ADHD symptoms and treating patients with SAD for possible ADHD and delayed sleep onset time may reduce symptom severity in these complex patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Delayed sleep-onset and biological age: late sleep-onset is associated with shorter telomere length
Dora Wynchank,Denise Bijlenga,Brenda W.J.H. Penninx,Femke Lamers,Aartjan T.F. Beekman,J. J. Sandra Kooij,Josine E. Verhoeven +6 more
TL;DR: Indicators of delayed circadian rhythm showed a strong and consistent effect on leukocyte telomere length, after adjustment for sociodemographic and health indicators.
