TL;DR: This Updated European Consensus Statement aims to support clinicians with research evidence and clinical experience from 63 experts of European and other countries in which ADHD in adults is recognized and treated, to increase awareness and knowledge of adult ADHD in and outside Europe.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impulsivity as a vulnerability factor for poor addiction treatment outcomes: A review of neurocognitive findings among individuals with substance use disorders
Laura Stevens,Antonio Verdejo-García,Antonio Verdejo-García,Anneke E. Goudriaan,Herbert Roeyers,Geert Dom,Wouter Vanderplasschen +6 more
TL;DR: Preliminary evidence suggests that impulsive/risky decision-making is unrelated to premature treatment drop-out among individuals with a substance use disorder, and indices of motor disinhibition appear to be unrelated to abstinence levels.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impulsivity in abstinent early- and late-onset alcoholics: differences in self-report measures and a discounting task.
TL;DR: Evidence is provided that EOAs are more impulsive and aggressive than LOAs, and identification of alcoholism subtypes based on dimensions of impulsivity should be considered in the light of their relationship with pharmacological and behavioural treatment interventions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Substance use disorders and the orbitofrontal cortex: systematic review of behavioural decision-making and neuroimaging studies.
TL;DR: Most studies showed significant deficits in decision-making in people with substance use disorders, and a consistent finding in the neuroimaging studies was hypoactivity of the orbitofrontal cortex after detoxification.
Journal ArticleDOI
Differences in impulsivity and sensation seeking between early- and late-onset alcoholics
TL;DR: C cigarette smoking was positively correlated with impulsiveness across alcoholic subgroups and active screening for impulsive traits in treatment-seeking alcohol-abusing populations is recommended to improve treatment planning and prevent early drop-out.
