Journal ArticleDOI
Pregnancies from biopsied human preimplantation embryos sexed by Y-specific DNA amplification
TL;DR: Two female embryos were transferred after in vitro fertilization, biopsy of a single cell at the six- to eight-cell stage, and sexing by DNA amplification of a Y chromosome-specific repeat sequence and both women are confirmed as carrying normal female twins.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical experience with preimplantation diagnosis of sex by dual fluorescent in situ hybridization
Darren K. Griffin,Alan H. Handyside,Joyce C. Harper,Joyce C. Harper,Leeanda Wilton,G. Atkinson,I. Soussis,Dagan Wells,E. Kontogianni,Tarin J,Selmo Geber +10 more
TL;DR: Dual FISH is an efficient technique for determination of the sex of human preimplantation embryos and the additional ability to detect abnormal chromosome copy numbers, which is not possible via the polymerase chain reaction, (PCR), makes FISH the preferred technique.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pregnancies from Biopsied Human Preimplantation Embryos Sexed by Y-Specific DNA Amplification
TL;DR: Pregnancies from Biopsied Human Preimplantation Embryos Sexed by Y-Specific DNA Amplification show clear trends in prognosis, particularly in women with high-risk pregnancies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Preimplantation diagnosis of genetic and chromosomal disorders
Yury Verlinsky,Alan H. Handyside,James A. Grifo,Santiago Munné,Jacques Cohen,I. Liebers,G. Levinson,N. Arnheim,Mark R. Hughes,J.D.A. Delhanty,Joyce C. Harper,C. Fisher,C. Readhead,Leeanda Wilton,P. De Sutter,J. Selva,Pierre F. Ray,Alan R. Thornhill,E. Kontogianni,Martin H. Johnson +33 more
TL;DR: The cumulative success rate for all women is 48% of pregnancies at 6 cycles, 66% at 12 cycles, and 80% at 24 cycles, which indicates that more fertile women conceive more readily.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identifying the sex of human preimplantation embryos in X-linked disease: amplification efficiency of a Y-specific alphoid repeat from single blastomeres with two lysis protocols.
TL;DR: The incidence of amplification failure was improved but not eliminated using the two-step lysis protocol, and this protocol for preparing cleavage-stage blastomeres is likely to give more consistent amplification of any unique or repeat sequences.
