Super resolution pitch determination of speech signals

TL;DR: Based on a new similarity model for the voice excitation process, a novel pitch determination procedure is derived that has infinite (super) resolution, better accuracy than the difference limen for F/sub 0/, robustness to noise, reliability, and modest computational complexity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Competitive learning and soft competition for vector quantizer design

TL;DR: By incorporating the principles of the stochastic approach into the KLA, a deterministic VQ design algorithm, the soft competition scheme (SCS), is introduced and experimental results are presented where the SCS consistently provided better codebooks than the generalized Lloyd algorithm (GLA), even when the same computation time was used for both algorithms.
Journal ArticleDOI

Maximum a posteriori decision and evaluation of class probabilities by Boltzmann perceptron classifiers

E. Yair, +1 more
TL;DR: It is shown that neural network architectures may offer a valuable alternative to the Bayesian classifier and it is demonstrated that the a posteriori class probabilities can be efficiently computed by a deterministic feedforward network which is called the Boltzmann perceptron classifier (BPC).
