Journal ArticleDOI
Erythropoietin therapy for acute stroke is both safe and beneficial.
Hannelore Ehrenreich,Martin Hasselblatt,Christoph Dembowski,Lukas Cepek,Piotr Lewczuk,Michael Stiefel,Hans-Heino Rustenbeck,Norbert Breiter,Sonja Jacob,Friederike Knerlich,Matthias Bohn,Wolfgang Poser,Eckart Rüther,Michael M. Kochen,Olaf Gefeller,Christoph H. Gleiter,Thomas C. Wessel,Marc De Ryck,Loretta M. Itri,H W Prange,Anthony Cerami,Michael Brines,Anna-Leena Sirén +22 more
TL;DR: Intravenous high-dose rhEPO is well tolerated in acute ischemic stroke and associated with an improvement in clinical outcome at 1 month, and analysis of covariance controlled for these two variables indicated thatrhEPO treatment was associated with a improvement in follow-up and outcome scales.
Journal ArticleDOI
Erythropoietin: a candidate compound for neuroprotection in schizophrenia.
Hannelore Ehrenreich,D. Degner,Johannes Meller,Michael Brines,M. Behe,Martin Hasselblatt,Helge Woldt,Peter Falkai,Friederike Knerlich,Sonja Jacob,N. von Ahsen,Wolfgang Maier,Wolfgang Brück,Eckart Rüther,Anthony Cerami,Wolfgang Becker,Anna-Leena Sirén +16 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that peripherally applied recombinant human EPO penetrates into the brain efficiently both in rat and humans and enhances cognitive functioning in mice in the context of an aversion task involving cortical and subcortical pathways presumably affected in schizophrenia.
Journal ArticleDOI
Follow-up of 180 alcoholic patients for up to 7 years after outpatient treatment: impact of alcohol deterrents on outcome.
Henning Krampe,Sabina Stawicki,Thilo Wagner,Claudia Bartels,Carlotta Aust,Eckart Rüther,Wolfgang Poser,Hannelore Ehrenreich +7 more
TL;DR: An abstinence rate of >50% in this 9-year study strongly supports the concept of comprehensive, long-term outpatient treatment of alcoholics and Supervised, guided intake of AD, also over extended periods, can be used as a predominantly psychologically acting ingredient of successful alcoholism therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Substantial decrease of psychiatric comorbidity in chronic alcoholics upon integrated outpatient treatment – results of a prospective study
Thilo Wagner,Henning Krampe,Sabina Stawicki,Jennifer Reinhold,Henriette Jahn,Kristin Mahlke,Ulrike Barth,Sonja Sieg,Oliver Maul,Claudia Galwas,Carlotta Aust,Birgit Kröner-Herwig,Edgar Brunner,Wolfgang Poser,Fritz A. Henn,Eckart Rüther,Hannelore Ehrenreich +16 more
TL;DR: A striking remission of comorbid Axis I disorders upon abstinence during comprehensive long-term outpatient alcoholism treatment is demonstrated and the presence of an Axis II rather than an Axis I disorder on admission strongly predicts drinking outcome over a four-year follow-up.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quantitative estimation of H3-norepinephrine and its metabolites by thin-layer chromatography
TL;DR: A simple quantitative separation method for labelled norepinephrine and its metabolites by thin-layer chromatography on cellulose is described and the efficiency was tested by administration of drugs, which have known effects on the NE-metabolism.
