2017 HRS / EHRA / ECAS / APHRS / SOLAECE expert consensus statement on catheter and surgical ablation of atrial fibrillation

Hugh Calkins, +60 more
- 01 Oct 2017 -
TL;DR: This 2017 Consensus Statement is to provide a state-of-the-art review of the field of catheter and surgical ablation of AF and to report the findings of a writing group, convened by these five international societies.

Journal ArticleDOI

Phased-Array Intracardiac Echocardiography Monitoring During Pulmonary Vein Isolation in Patients With Atrial Fibrillation Impact on Outcome and Complications

TL;DR: Intracardiac echocardiography improves the outcome of cooled-tip PVI and power adjustment guided by direct visualization of microbubble formation reduces the risk of PV stenosis and improves long-term cure.
Journal ArticleDOI

Pulmonary Vein Stenosis After Radiofrequency Ablation of Atrial Fibrillation Functional Characterization, Evolution, and Influence of the Ablation Strategy

TL;DR: Mild and moderate degrees of PV narrowing are not associated with development of symptoms and seem to have no or minimal detrimental effect on pulmonary flow and the incidence of severe PV stenosis seems to be declining with better imaging techniques to ensure ostial isolation and to guide power titration.
