Journal ArticleDOI
International evidence-based guidelines on Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) for critically ill neonates and children issued by the POCUS Working Group of the European Society of Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care (ESPNIC)
Yogen Singh,Cecile Tissot,María V. Fraga,Nadya Yousef,Rafael González Cortés,Jorge Lopez,Joan Sanchez-de-Toledo,Joe Brierley,Juan Mayordomo Colunga,Dusan Raffaj,Eduardo da Cruz,Philippe Durand,Peter Kenderessy,Hans-Joerg Lang,Akira Nishisaki,Martin C. J. Kneyber,Pierre Tissières,Thomas Conlon,Daniele De Luca +18 more
TL;DR: Evidence-based guidelines for the use of POCUS in critically ill neonates and children are now available and will be useful to optimise the use, training programs and further research, which are urgently needed given the weak quality of evidence available.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prospective validation of the vasoactive-inotropic score and correlation to short term outcomes in neonates and infants after cardiothoracic surgery
TL;DR: In neonates and infants, a higher VIS at 48 h after cardiothoracic surgery is strongly associated with increased length of ventilation, and prolonged ICU and total hospital stay, and at all time points assessed, VIS is more predictive of poor short-term outcome than IS.
Reference BookDOI
Pediatric and Congenital Cardiology, Cardiac Surgery and Intensive Care
TL;DR: This chapter provides a description of different conditions that encompass single-gene mutations associated with congenital and acquired cardiovascular disease and insight into long-term prognosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Oral feeding outcomes in neonates with congenital cardiac disease undergoing cardiac surgery.
TL;DR: Time from surgery to oral feeding, the amount taken with first feeding, and cross-clamp times were significant predictors of oral feeding success, whereas the presence of a comorbidity – genetic abnormality – and longer ventilator dependency predicted failure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Enteral Feeding in Prostaglandin-Dependent Neonates: Is It a Safe Practice?
Lisa Willis,Patti J. Thureen,Jonathan Kaufman,Erica Wymore,Heather E. Skillman,Eduardo da Cruz +5 more
TL;DR: Feeding tolerance in 33 of 34 neonates fed enterally while receiving prostaglandin is demonstrated, suggesting the safety of this practice, and early enteral feeding in these infants is adopted.
