Journal ArticleDOI

A Novel Double Lesion in X-Irradiated DNA Consists of a Strand Break and a Base Modification

TL;DR: The present study shows that double lesions may sometimes consist of a base lesion and an associated strand break and the mechanism for the formation of double lesions is discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization of radiation-induced damage in d(TpApCpG).

TL;DR: The radiation chemistry of the oligomer d(TpApCpG) X-irradiated in aqueous solution containing glutathione was studied and four products were isolated by HPLC and characterized by NMR spectroscopy, finding two of the major products are isomers of a 5-hydroxy-5,6-dihydrothymine modification of d( TpAp CpG).
Journal ArticleDOI

Primary oxidation and reduction products in x‐irradiated aspartic acid

TL;DR: The primary reduction products identified by ESR-ENDOR spectroscopy in single crystals of DL•aspartic acid hydrochloride irradiated at 4.2°K are anions formed by addition of an electron to the carbonyl oxygen atoms of the carboxylic acid groups as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization of the products of dinucleoside monophosphates d(GpN) irradiated in aqueous solutions.

TL;DR: The most interesting product is one bearing two base damages, 8-hydroxylation of the guanine base and degradation of the pyrimidine base to a formamido remnant, observed in both the intact modified dinucleoside monophosphates.
