Journal ArticleDOI

Cerebrospinal fluid and serum levels and intrathecal production of active matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) as markers of disease activity in patients with multiple sclerosis.

TL;DR: CSF and serum levels of active MMP-9 may represent a potential surrogate biomarker for monitoring MS disease activity and a shift in Mmp-9/TIMP-1 balance towards proteolytic activity of M MP-9 could be relevant in MS immune dysregulation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Epstein-Barr virus-specific antibody response in cerebrospinal fluid and serum of patients with multiple sclerosis.

TL;DR: Findings do not support a direct pathogenetic role of EBV-targeted humoral immune response in multiple sclerosis and an intrathecal IgG production of anti-VCA and anti-EBNA-1 IgG, as indicated by Antibody Index.
