Energy harvesting devices as long lasting power sources for the next generation pacemakers

TL;DR: In this article, a very flexible and hermetic packaging solution is proposed, and piezoelectric and electrostatic transducers are conceived and optimized for the pacemaker application according to simulations and experiments, the proposed devices should provide the targeted electrical energy of 10 μJ per heartbeat in real environment.
Journal ArticleDOI

MEMS Process by Film Transfer Using a Fluorocarbon Anti-Adhesive Layer

TL;DR: In this article, a low cost and low temperature microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) transfer process is presented based on adhesion control of molded electroplated Ni microstructures on the donor wafer by using a plasma deposited fluorocarbon film.
Journal ArticleDOI

Shunt-diode rectifier: a new scheme for efficient piezoelectric energy harvesting

TL;DR: It is shown that weakly-coupled linear inertial piezoelectric energy harvesters generate higher power when connected to a shunt-diode rectifier than to a bridge rectifier, and the frequency bandwidth is enlarged by the use of the single- diode shunt rectifier.

Energy recovery device for autonomous intracorporeal capsule

TL;DR: In this article, an energy recovery transducer comprising a capacitor electrode in form of comb coupled to a movable actuation member that has a deformable element (42) deformed in response to effect of pressure variations in a medium.

Autonomous intracorporeal capsule with piezoelectric energy recovery

TL;DR: In this article, a transducer with piezoelectric strip is coupled to a movable actuating portion having a rigid surface to directly receive external force, which is fixed to a portion of the capsule.
