Journal ArticleDOI
Systematic review: using magnetic resonance imaging to screen women at high risk for breast cancer.
TL;DR: A systematic review of prospective studies in which women at very high risk for breast cancer were screened with both MRI and mammography sought to summarize the sensitivity, specificity, likelihood ratios, and posttest probability associated with combining these 2 tests.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of Breast Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Mammography, and Ultrasound for Surveillance of Women at High Risk for Hereditary Breast Cancer
Ellen Warner,Donald B. Plewes,Rene Shumak,G. C. Catzavelos,L. S. Di Prospero,Martin J. Yaffe,Vivek Goel,E. Ramsay,P. L. Chart,David E. C. Cole,G. A. Taylor,M. Cutrara,T. H. Samuels,J. P. Murphy,J. M. Murphy,Steven A. Narod +15 more
TL;DR: Breast MRI may be superior to mammography and ultrasound for the screening of women at high risk for hereditary breast cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Frequency of recurrent BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations in Ashkenazi Jewish breast cancer families
Patricia N. Tonin,Barbara L. Weber,Kenneth Offit,Fergus J. Couch,Timothy R. Rebbeck,Susan L. Neuhausen,Andrew K. Godwin,M. Daly,J Wagner-Costalos,David B. Berman,Generosa Grana,Ellen Fox,Michael F. TL;DR: Two founding mutations in BRCa1 and BRCA2 are responsible for a large proportion of Jewish families with the breast-ovarian cancer syndrome.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prospective study of breast cancer incidence in women with a BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutation under surveillance with and without magnetic resonance imaging
Ellen Warner,Kimberley Hill,Petrina A. Causer,Donald B. Plewes,Roberta A. Jong,Martin J. Yaffe,William D. Foulkes,Parviz Ghadirian,Henry T. Lynch,Fergus J. Couch,John Wong,Frances C. Wright,Ping Sun,Steven A. Narod +13 more
TL;DR: Annual surveillance with MRI is associated with a significant reduction in the incidence of advanced-stage breast cancer in BRCA1 and BRCa2 carriers.
