Bringing the margin to the focus: 10 challenges for riparian vegetation science and management

TL;DR: In this article , the authors identified 10 key challenges for riparian vegetation science and management improvement: (1) Create a distinct scientific community by establishing stronger bridges between disciplines; (2) Make nature more visible and appreciated in society and policies; (3) improve knowledge regarding biodiversity; (4) Manage spatial scale and context-based issues; (5) Improve knowledge on social dimensions of nature; (6) Anticipate responses to emergent issues and future trajectories; (7) Enhance tools to quantify and prioritize ecosystem services; (8) improve numerical modeling and simulation tools; (9) Calibrate methods and increase data availability for better indicators and monitoring practices and transferability; and (10) Undertake scientific validation of best management practices.
Journal ArticleDOI

Bio‐geomorphic alteration through shifting flow regime in a modified monsoonal river system in Korea

TL;DR: In this article , the authors collected and analyzed detailed monitoring data on a sandy, hydromorphologically active, and monsoon-driven river in Korea and showed a rapid bio-geomorphic alteration triggered by the shifts in flow regime in a river primed by human-induced changes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Can an Alternate Bio-Geomorphological State Be Triggered by Short-Term Hydrological Fluctuations in Modified Monsoon Driven River Systems?

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors show that the Naeseongcheon watershed was primed by human-induced changes, which made the river system more susceptible to changes in rainfall and discharge due to climate change.
