Journal ArticleDOI
Genotyping of canine distemper virus strains circulating in Brazil from 2008 to 2012
Renata da Fontoura Budaszewski,Luciane Dubina Pinto,Matheus Nunes Weber,Eloiza Teles Caldart,Christian Diniz Beduschi Travassos Alves,Vito Martella,Nilo Ikuta,Vagner Ricardo Lunge,Cláudio Wageck Canal +8 more
TL;DR: The findings highlight the relevance of CDV infection in Brazilian dogs, demonstrate the predominance of one genotype in Brazil and support the need to intensify the current control measures.
Journal ArticleDOI
Patterns of Transmission and Sources of Infection in Outbreaks of Human Toxoplasmosis.
Fernanda Pinto-Ferreira,Eloiza Teles Caldart,Aline Kuhn Sbruzzi Pasquali,Regina Mitsuka-Breganó,Roberta Lemos Freire,Italmar Teodorico Navarro +5 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that greater attention be paid to the disinfection of vegetables, as well as to the quality of water used for drinking and irrigation, because of the possible change in the epidemiology of reported toxoplasmosis outbreaks.
Journal ArticleDOI
The effect of water source and soil supplementation on parasite contamination in organic vegetable gardens.
Fernanda Pinto Ferreira,Eloiza Teles Caldart,Roberta Lemos Freire,Regina Mitsuka-Breganó,Felipe Machado de Freitas,Ana Carolina Miura,Marcelle Mareze,Felippe Danyel Cardoso Martins,Mariana Ragassi Urbano,Adilson Luiz Seifert,Italmar Teodorico Navarro +10 more
TL;DR: The results expose some critical contamination points, providing support for training farmers on good management practices during the production process, and demonstrating greater probability of positive samples for T. gondii and for at least one of the three protozoa when the source of irrigation water was the river.
Journal ArticleDOI
Socioeconomic vulnerability associated to Toxoplasma gondii exposure in southern Brazil.
Marcelle Mareze,Aline do Nascimento Benitez,Ana Pérola Drulla Brandão,Fernanda Pinto-Ferreira,Ana Carolina Miura,Felippe Danyel Cardoso Martins,Eloiza Teles Caldart,Alexander Welker Biondo,Alexander Welker Biondo,Roberta Lemos Freire,Regina Mitsuka-Breganó,Italmar Teodorico Navarro +11 more
TL;DR: The increased risk due to illiteracy, adult or elderly age, unemployment and lack of household water tank were confirmed by multivariate analysis and the influence of low family income for seropositivity by the spatial analysis suggested socioeconomic vulnerability determinants may be associated to Toxoplasma gondii exposure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Leishmania in synanthropic rodents (Rattus rattus): new evidence for the urbanization of Leishmania (Leishmania) amazonensis
Eloiza Teles Caldart,Roberta Lemos Freire,Fernanda Pinto Ferreira,Bruno Bergamo Ruffolo,Mônica Raquel Sbeghen,Marcelle Mareze,João Luis Garcia,Regina Mitsuka-Breganó,Italmar Teodorico Navarro +8 more
TL;DR: This study aimed to detect parasites from Leishmania genus, to determine the prevalence of anti-Leishmania spp.
