Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of lipid derivatives on invasion in vitro and on surface glycoproteins of three rodent cell types.

TL;DR: Comparison of the antiinvasive effect of ET-18-OCH3 on three types of cells showed the following ranking: 12R1C-RK rat kidney adenovirus type 12 transfected cells>MO4 mouse cells>LLC-H61 Lewis lung carcinoma cells.
Journal ArticleDOI

Down-regulation of myopodin expression reduces invasion and motility of PC-3 prostate cancer cells.

TL;DR: It is shown that down-regulation of myopodin expression in human cancer cells significantly reduces the invasive properties of these cells both in collagen type I and in Matrigel, and hypothesize that the subcellular localization of the protein is involved in its suppressor or activator function in tumorigenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cell size and mutual cell adhesion

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that changes in cell size affect the intercellular adhesiveness by modifying the extent to which cell surface sialic acids counteract adhesion.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of calcium and bound sialic acid on the viscosity of mucin

TL;DR: A viscosity drop was observed when pig gastric mucin was titrated with HCl below pH 3.0, and when EDTA was present, addition of HCl resulted in an increase in viscolysis between pH3.0 and pH 1.0.
Journal ArticleDOI

A method for the quantitative measurement of cell aggregation.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that formation of cellular aggregates in a slowly rotating suspension is accompanied by a decrease in total cell concentration in the top layer of the suspension.
