Journal ArticleDOI

The glass–liquid transition of hyperquenched water

TL;DR: In this article, the results of a calorimetric study of the glassy state of water obtained by rapid cooling or by hyperquenching, demonstrate the reversibility of its glass-liquid transition in the temperature range 113-148 K, and consider the implication to our understanding of its other non-crystalline solid forms.
Journal ArticleDOI

Complete vitrification in pure liquid water and dilute aqueous solutions

Peter Brüggeller, +1 more
- 01 Dec 1980 -
TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that macroscopic parts of samples of pure liquid water and of dilute aqueous solutions can be vitrified completely by jet-freezing of micrometre-sized aqous droplets distributed in n -heptane as an emulsion.
Journal ArticleDOI

A second distinct structural “state” of high-density amorphous ice at 77 K and 1 bar

TL;DR: Very high density amorphous ice (VHDA) as discussed by the authors has a density of 1.25 ± 0.01 g cm−3, which is higher than that of HDA.
Journal ArticleDOI

The preparation and structures of hydrogen ordered phases of ice.

TL;DR: By doping ices V and XII with hydrochloric acid, two hydrogen ordered phases of ice are prepared and ice XIII and ice XIV are analyzed by powder neutron diffraction, opening up the possibility of completing the phase diagram of ice.
