Amplitude noise and coherence degradation of femtosecond supercontinuum generation in all-normal-dispersion fibers

TL;DR: In this article, the authors discuss the influence of the amplitude and pulse length noise of the pump laser, both added separately and combined, on supercontinuum (SC) generation via femtosecond (fs) pumping in all-normal dispersion (ANDi) fiber.
Journal ArticleDOI

Recent advances in supercontinuum generation in specialty optical fibers [Invited]

TL;DR: In this paper, a selection of recent advances in supercontinuum (SC) generation in a range of specialty optical fibers, including fluoride, chalcogenide, telluride, and silicon-core fibers for the mid-infrared (MIR) region and in the ultraviolet (UV) down to 100 nm, were reviewed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ultra-flat, low-noise, and linearly polarized fiber supercontinuum source covering 670–1390 nm

TL;DR: In this article, an octave-spanning coherent supercontinuum (SC) fiber laser with excellent noise and polarization properties was achieved by pumping a highly birefringent all-normal dispersion photonic crystal fiber with a compact high-power ytterbium femtosecond laser at 1049 nm.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cross-Phase Modulation Instability in PM ANDi Fiber-Based Supercontinuum Generation

TL;DR: In this article, supercontinuum generation in a polarization-maintaining (PM) all-normal dispersion (ANDi) photonic crystal fiber was investigated and it was shown that pumping along the fiber's fast axis is stable while both the slow and off-axis exhibit cross-phase modulation instability.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cross-Phase Modulation Instability in PM ANDi Fiber-Based Supercontinuum Generation

TL;DR: In this article, the authors demonstrate broadband supercontinuum generation in an all-normal dispersion polarization-maintaining photonic crystal fiber and report the observation of a cross-phase modulation instability sideband that is generated outside of the super-continuum bandwidth.
