Through-resonance assisted ionic hydrogen bonding in 5-nitro-n-salicylideneethylamine
Tadeusz M. Krygowski,Krzysztof Woźniak,Romana Anulewicz,Dorota Pawlak,Waclaw Kolodziejski,Eugeniusz Grech,Anna Szady +6 more
TL;DR: The first example of ionic [O-···H−N+] intramolecular hydrogen bonding in a structure of Schiff base was reported in this paper, where the authors showed that the title molecule is dominated by ionic canonical structures favored by through molecule conjugation between the nitro group and both groups of salicylidene fragment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neutral and ionic hydrogen bonding in Schiff bases
Paulina M. Dominiak,Eugeniusz Grech,Gordon Barr,Simon J. Teat,Paul R. Mallinson,Krzysztof Woźniak +5 more
TL;DR: Low-temperature, high-resolution X-ray studies of charge distributions in the three Schiff bases, the dianil of 2-hydroxy-5-methylisophthaldehyde, 3,5-dinitro-N-salicylidenoethylamine and 3-nitro- N-salICylidenocyclohexylamine, have been carried out, exhibiting interesting weak interactions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Continua of Interactions between Pairs of Atoms in Molecular Crystals
Paulina M. Dominiak,Anna Makal,Paul R. Mallinson,Kinga Trzcińska,Julita Eilmes,Eugeniusz Grech,Maksymilian Chruszcz,Wladek Minor,Krzysztof Woźniak +8 more
TL;DR: Analytical nonlinear dependences of Laplacian on charge density have been found and agree reasonably well with those obtained by least square fit of the LaPLacian to charge density data.
Journal ArticleDOI
Intramolecular hydrogen bonding in N-salicylideneanilines. X-ray diffraction and solid-state NMR studies
Krzysztof Wozniak,Heyong He,Jacek Klinowski,William Jones,Teresa Dziembowska,Eugeniusz Grech +5 more
TL;DR: The crystal structures of four Schiff bases: N-(3,5-dichlorosalicylidene)-4-dimethylaminoaniline, N-(2- hydroxynaphthyliden-naphthylaminiline)-naphthymidine and N-(1.5-nitrosalicylin-idene]-4-diethylaminile have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and solid-state NMR.
