Source-to-sink transport of sugar and regulation by environmental factors

TL;DR: Current knowledge about the phloem transport mechanisms is summarized and the effects of several abiotic (water and salt stress, mineral deficiency, CO2, light, temperature, air, and soil pollutants) and biotic andmutualistic and pathogenic microbes, viruses, aphids, and parasitic plants are reviewed.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Sugar-Signaling Hub: Overview of Regulators and Interaction with the Hormonal and Metabolic Network.

TL;DR: The present review emphasizes the diversity of sugar signaling integrators, the main molecular and biochemical mechanisms related to the sugar-signaling dependent regulations, and to the regulatory hubs acting in the interplay of the Sugar-hormone and sugar-nitrogen networks.
Journal ArticleDOI

VvHT1 encodes a monosaccharide transporter expressed in the conducting complex of the grape berry phloem

TL;DR: The expression and functional properties of VvHT1 suggests that it retrieves the monosaccharides needed to provide the energy necessary for cell division and cell growth at an early stage of berry development.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of cultural conditions on the hemp (Cannabis sativa) phloem fibres: Biological development and mechanical properties

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of different cultural parameters on some characteristics of hemp fibres were studied: variety, soil drought during plant cultivation and water-retting process, and results showed that there was no significant influence on studied properties of the hemp variety and of water retting.
