Journal ArticleDOI

A novel simultaneous partial nitrification Anammox and denitrification (SNAD) with intermittent aeration for cost-effective nitrogen removal from mature landfill leachate

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used three dimensional excitation-emission matrix (EEM) fluorescence spectroscopy to detect dissolved organic matter (DOM) in a typical operation cycle for the first time, demonstrating that DOM increased during the anoxic phase and facilitated the reduction of excess NO 3 -N by denitrification.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of carbon source type on intracellular stored polymers during endogenous denitritation (ED) treating landfill leachate

TL;DR: The microbial diversity analysis revealed that Proteobacteria was the most abundant phylum and among the 108 genera detected in this ED system, the genera responsible for denitritation were Thauera, Paracoccus, Ottowia and Comamonadaceae_unclassified, accounting for 46% of total bacteria.
Journal ArticleDOI

Continuous-flow combined process of nitritation and ANAMMOX for treatment of landfill leachate

TL;DR: The results show that COD from mature leachate did not bring obvious inhibition effects to anammox, and under concentrations of influent ammonia and COD, the removal efficiencies of TN and C OD reached 94% and 62% respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI

Efficient step-feed partial nitrification, simultaneous Anammox and denitrification (SPNAD) equipped with real-time control parameters treating raw mature landfill leachate.

TL;DR: An innovative step-feed partial nitrification, simultaneous Anammox and denitrification (SPNAD), equipped with real-time control parameters, achieved efficient nitrogen removal from raw mature landfill leachate.
Journal ArticleDOI

Advanced nitrogen removal from mature landfill leachate via partial nitrification-Anammox biofilm reactor (PNABR) driven by high dissolved oxygen (DO): Protection mechanism of aerobic biofilm

TL;DR: A novel partial nitrification-Anammox biofilm reactor (PNABR) operated under high dissolved oxygen (DO) with pre-anoxic - aerobic - anoxic operational mode was developed for efficient denitrogenation from mature landfill leachate.
