Journal ArticleDOI
Graphene oxide triggers mass transfer limitations on the methanogenic activity of an anaerobic consortium with a particulate substrate.
J. Iván Bueno-López,J. Rene Rangel-Mendez,Felipe Alatriste-Mondragón,Fátima Pérez-Rodríguez,Virginia Hernández-Montoya,Francisco J. Cervantes +5 more
TL;DR: Assessment of the effects of GO on the methanogenic activity of an anaerobic consortium using a particulate biopolymer (starch) and a readily fermentable soluble substrate (glucose) as electron donors revealed that GO could seriously hamper the removal of particulate organic matter, such as starch, as well as methane production in an aerobic WWTS.
Journal ArticleDOI
Improved conductivity and anti(bio)fouling of cation exchange membranes by AgNPs-GO nanocomposites
María Irene López-Cázares,Fátima Pérez-Rodríguez,J. Rene Rangel-Mendez,Marisol Centeno-Sánchez,Luis F. Chazaro-Ruiz +4 more
TL;DR: In this article, Nafion and Ultrex membranes were modified with nanocomposites of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) immobilized on graphene oxide (GO) as a thin film, using a polydopamine adhesive (pda).
Journal ArticleDOI
Steady-state operation of a biofilter coupled with photocatalytic control of bacterial bioaerosol emissions
Mariana Valdez-Castillo,José Octavio Saucedo-Lucero,Karla Lizeth Villalobos-Romero,Fátima Pérez-Rodríguez,Sonia Arriaga +4 more
TL;DR: Flow cytometry coupled with fluorochromes was used to characterize and quantify bioaerosol emissions in terms of live, dead, and injured cells, and results show that the main mechanism of inactivation of TiO2/Poraver was cell death.
Journal ArticleDOI
Methane production enhanced by reduced graphene oxide in an anaerobic consortium supplied with particulate and soluble substrates
J. Iván Bueno-López,Alejandra Díaz-Hinojosa,J. Rene Rangel-Mendez,Felipe Alatriste-Mondragón,Fátima Pérez-Rodríguez,Virginia Hernández-Montoya,Francisco J. Cervantes +6 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis of a granular composite based on polyvinyl alcohol-Fe:Ce bimetallic oxide particles for the selective adsorption of As(V) from water
L. E. Ríos-Saldaña,Fátima Pérez-Rodríguez,E. Vence-Alvarez,Cesar Nieto-Delgado,Jose Rene Rangel-Mendez +4 more
TL;DR: In this article , Fe:Ce bimetallic oxide particles (BOP) were immobilized in polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) hydrogel, aiming to engineer a granular material that preserves the adsorptive properties of BOP powder, allowing their use in conventional water treatment systems.
