Journal ArticleDOI
Increased activity of coagulation factor XII (Hageman factor) causes hereditary angioedema type III
Sven Cichon,Ludovic Martin,Hans Christian Hennies,Felicitas Müller,Karen Van Driessche,A. Karpushova,Wim J. Stevens,Roberto Colombo,Thomas Renné,Christian Drouet,Konrad Bork,Markus M. Nöthen +11 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that enhanced FXII enzymatic plasma activity in female mutation carriers leads to enhanced kinin production, which results in angioedema.
Journal ArticleDOI
Novel roles for factor XII-driven plasma contact activation system.
Felicitas Müller,Thomas Renné +1 more
TL;DR: Improved understanding of the factor XII-driven contact system in hemostasis, thrombosis, and inflammation is improved, and Targeting contact system proteins offers new opportunities for safe anticoagulation associated with minimal bleeding risk.
Journal ArticleDOI
Unrip, a factor implicated in cap-independent translation, associates with the cytosolic SMN complex and influences its intracellular localization
TL;DR: Interestingly, RNAi-induced reduction of unrip protein levels leads to enhanced accumulation of SMN in the nucleus as evident by the increased formation of nuclear gems/Cajal bodies, and it is speculated that unrip plays a crucial role in the intracellular distribution of the SMN complex.
