Journal ArticleDOI
Bio-hydrogen production from waste materials
TL;DR: In this paper, a review article summarizes bio-hydrogen production from some waste materials, including cellulose and starch containing agricultural and food industry wastes and some food industry wastewaters.
Book
Bioprocess Engineering: Basic Concepts
TL;DR: The author explains how the biotechnology and bioprocess engineering profession has changed in the modern era, and some examples of this change can be found in the chapters on Bioreactors for Suspension and Immobilized Cultures.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bio-hydrogen production by different operational modes of dark and photo-fermentation: An overview
Hidayet Argun,Fikret Kargi +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the relative advantages of sequential and combined dark and photo-fermentations were discussed. And the authors concluded that high cell density fed-batch culture with controlled feeding and simultaneous product removal was the most suitable operation mode at the optimum environmental conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Salt inhibition on biological nutrient removal from saline wastewater in a sequencing batch reactor
Ahmet Uygur,Fikret Kargi +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a four-step sequencing batch reactor (SBR) at different salt (NaCl) concentrations was used to determine the salt inhibition effects on biological nutrient removal.
Journal ArticleDOI
Biological nutrient removal from pre-treated landfill leachate in a sequencing batch reactor
Ahmet Uygur,Fikret Kargi +1 more
TL;DR: The lowest effluent nutrient levels were realized by using the five-step operation which resulted in effluent COD, NH4-N and PO4-P contents of 1,400, 107 and 65 mg l(-1), respectively, at the end of 21 h.
