Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of dietary protein intake on albumin homeostasis in nephrotic patients.

TL;DR: Dietary protein restriction in patients with established nephrosis results in decreased urinary albumin excretion in excess of any reduction in creatinine clearance, and total albumin mass is preserved and plasma albuminmass is actually increased during the period of dietary protein restriction.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hypertension in the United States, 1999 to 2012 Progress Toward Healthy People 2020 Goals

TL;DR: Findings are consistent with evidence that (1) obesity prevention and treatment could reduce prevalent hypertension, and (2) healthcare insurance, ≥2 healthcare visits per year, and guideline-based cholesterol treatment could improve hypertension control.
Journal ArticleDOI

Renal Salt Wasting in Patients Treated with Cisplatin

TL;DR: Cisplatin may produce renal salt wasting causing symptomatic orthostatic hypotension and hyponatremia associated with abnormalities of the renin-aldosterone system and aldosterone was low in six patients despite clinical volume depletion.
Journal ArticleDOI

Albumin synthesis, albuminuria and hyperlipemia in nephrotic patients

TL;DR: This work measured the rate of albumin synthesis, urinary albumin loss, serum albumin, protein, cholesterol and triglyceride concentration in 13 nephrotic patients and found that changes in serum cholesterol concentration was completely independent of the Rate of Albumin synthesis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ethnic differences in blood pressure control among men at Veterans Affairs clinics and other health care sites.

TL;DR: The ethnic disparity in BP control between African Americans and whites was approximately 40% less at VA than at non-VA health care sites (6.2% vs 10.2%; P<.01).
