Journal ArticleDOI
Viruses in wastewater: occurrence, abundance and detection methods.
Mary Vermi Aizza Corpuz,Antonio Buonerba,Giovanni Vigliotta,Tiziano Zarra,Florencio C. Ballesteros,Pietro Campiglia,Vincenzo Belgiorno,Gregory V. Korshin,Vincenzo Naddeo +8 more
TL;DR: Challenges and future perspectives in the detection of viruses, including emerging and newly emerged viruses such as the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), in wastewater systems are discussed in this review.
Journal ArticleDOI
Removal of emerging contaminants by simultaneous application of membrane ultrafiltration, activated carbon adsorption, and ultrasound irradiation.
TL;DR: Results suggest that adsorption is probably the main removal mechanism and is affected by the nature of ECs and the presence of other components in the mixture, and almost complete removals are achieved in the hybrid process for all ECs.
Journal ArticleDOI
E-waste recycling processes in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam: A case study of cathode ray tube TVs and monitors
Aya Yoshida,Atsushi Terazono,Florencio C. Ballesteros,Duc-Quang Nguyen,Sunandar Sukandar,Michikazu Kojima,Shozo Sakata +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the recycling and treatment techniques of EOL CRT TVs/monitors were investigated in three Southeast Asian countries (Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam).
Journal ArticleDOI
Combination of Electrochemical Processes with Membrane Bioreactors for Wastewater Treatment and Fouling Control: A Review
Benny Marie B. Ensano,Laura Borea,Vincenzo Naddeo,Vincenzo Belgiorno,Mark Daniel G. de Luna,Florencio C. Ballesteros +5 more
TL;DR: A critical review about the integration of electrochemical processes into membrane bioreactors in order to understand the influence of these processes on wastewater treatment performance and membrane fouling control is provided in this article.
Journal ArticleDOI
Applicability of the electrocoagulation process in treating real municipal wastewater containing pharmaceutical active compounds
Benny Marie B. Ensano,Laura Borea,Vincenzo Naddeo,Vincenzo Belgiorno,Mark Daniel G. de Luna,Malini Balakrishnan,Florencio C. Ballesteros +6 more
TL;DR: The viability of using electrocoagulation process as a method for pharmaceuticals removal from real municipal wastewater was demonstrated and high pharmaceutical abatement was recorded at elevated current density and prolonged electrolysis duration due to additional electro-generated coagulant species in solution.
