Journal ArticleDOI
In vivo antioxidant and antiulcer activity of Parkia speciosa ethanolic leaf extract against ethanol-induced gastric ulcer in rats
Rami Al Batran,Fouad Hussain M.H Al-Bayaty,Mazen M. Jamil Al-Obaidi,Abdualrahman Mohammed Abdualkader,Hamid A. Hadi,Hapipah Mohd Ali,Mahmood Ameen Abdulla +6 more
TL;DR: Treatment with the extract led to the upregulation of heat-shock protein 70 (HSP70) and the downregulation of the pro-apoptotic protein BAX and significant increases in the levels of the antioxidant defense enzymes glutathione (GSH) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) in the gastric mucosal homogenate were observed, whereas that of a lipid peroxidation marker (MDA) was significantly decreased.
Journal ArticleDOI
Gastroprotective effect of Phyllanthus niruri leaf extract against ethanol-induced gastric mucosal injury in rats.
Mahmood Ameen Abdulla,Khaled A. Ahmed,Khaled A. Ahmed,Fouad Hussain M.H Al-Bayaty,Yaghma Masood +4 more
TL;DR: The present finding suggests that P. niruri leaf extract promotes ulcer protection as ascertained by the comparative decreases in ulcer areas, inhibition or reduction of edema and leukocyte infiltration of the submucosa.
Journal ArticleDOI
Anti-ulcerogenic activity of Gynura procumbens leaf extract against experimentally-induced gastric lesions in rats.
TL;DR: The results suggest that GPELE promotes ulcer protection as ascertained grossly by significant reduction of ulcer area, and histologically by comparatively decreases in ulcer areas, reduction or absence of edema and leucocytes infiltration of submucosal layer compared to ulcer control group.
Journal ArticleDOI
Anti-ulcer activity of Centella asiatica leaf extract against ethanol-induced gastric mucosal injury in rats
TL;DR: The present finding suggests that C. asiatica leaf extract promotes ulcer protection as ascertained grossly and histologically compared to the ulcer control group.
Journal ArticleDOI
Gastroprotective Activity of Polygonum chinense Aqueous Leaf Extract on Ethanol-Induced Hemorrhagic Mucosal Lesions in Rats
Iza Farhana Ismail,Shahram Golbabapour,Pouya Hassandarvish,Maryam Hajrezaie,Nazia Abdul Majid,Farkaad A. Kadir,Fouad Hussain M.H Al-Bayaty,Khalijah Awang,Hazrina Hazni,Mahmood Ameen Abdulla +9 more
TL;DR: The authors' data provide first evidence that P. chinense extract could significantly prevent gastric ulcer and Acute toxicity study revealed the nontoxic nature of the extract.
