Journal ArticleDOI
A comparison of allografting with autografting for newly diagnosed myeloma.
Benedetto Bruno,Marcello Rotta,Francesca Patriarca,Nicola Mordini,Bernardino Allione,Fabrizio Carnevale-Schianca,Luisa Giaccone,Roberto Sorasio,Paola Omedè,Ileana Baldi,Sara Bringhen,Massimo Massaia,Massimo Aglietta,Alessandro Levis,Andrea Gallamini,Renato Fanin,Antonio Palumbo,Rainer Storb,Giovannino Ciccone,Mario Boccadoro +19 more
TL;DR: Among patients with newly diagnosed myeloma, survival in recipients of a hematopoietic stem- cell autograft followed by a stem-cell allograft from an HLA-identical sibling is superior to that in recipient of tandem stem- Cell autografteds.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prognostic relevance of 18-F FDG PET/CT in newly diagnosed multiple myeloma patients treated with up-front autologous transplantation
Elena Zamagni,Francesca Patriarca,Cristina Nanni,Beatrice Anna Zannetti,Emanuela Englaro,Annalisa Pezzi,Paola Tacchetti,Silvia Buttignol,Giulia Perrone,Annamaria Brioli,Lucia Pantani,Carolina Terragna,Francesca Carobolante,Michele Baccarani,Renato Fanin,Stefano Fanti,Michele Cavo +16 more
TL;DR: PET/CT involvement at diagnosis, after novel agent-based induction and subsequent ASCT is a reliable predictor of prognosis in MM patients and persistence of SUV > 4.2 after TD induction was an early predictor for shorter PFS.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antilymphocyte globulin for prevention of chronic graft-versus-host disease
Kröger N,Carlos Solano,Christine Wolschke,Giuseppe Bandini,Francesca Patriarca,Massimo Pini,Arnon Nagler,Carmine Selleri,Carmine Selleri,Antonio M. Risitano,Giuseppe Messina,Wolfgang Bethge,Jaime Pérez De Oteiza,Rafael F. Duarte,Angelo Michele Carella,Michele Cimminiello,Stefano Guidi,Jürgen Finke,Nicola Mordini,Christelle Ferra,Jorge Sierra,Domenico Russo,Mario Petrini,Giuseppe Milone,Fabio Benedetti,Marion Heinzelmann,Domenico Pastore,Manuel Jurado,Elisabetta Terruzzi,Franco Narni,Andreas Völp,Francis Ayuk,Tapani Ruutu,Francesca Bonifazi +33 more
TL;DR: The inclusion of antihuman T-lymphocyte immune globulin (ATG) in a myeloablative conditioning regimen for patients with acute leukemia resulted in a significant reduction in chronic GVHD 2 years after allogeneic peripheral-blood stem-cell transplantation from an HLA-identical sibling.
Journal ArticleDOI
Efficacy and safety of once-weekly bortezomib in multiple myeloma patients
Sara Bringhen,Alessandra Larocca,Davide Rossi,Maide Cavalli,Mariella Genuardi,Roberto Ria,Silvia Gentili,Francesca Patriarca,Chiara Nozzoli,Anna Levi,Tommasina Guglielmelli,Giulia Benevolo,Vincenzo Callea,Vincenzo Rizzo,Clotilde Cangialosi,Pellegrino Musto,Luca De Rosa,Anna Marina Liberati,Mariella Grasso,Antonietta Falcone,Andrea Evangelista,Michele Cavo,Gianluca Gaidano,Mario Boccadoro,Antonio Palumbo +24 more
TL;DR: The protocol was amended and patients in both arms received once-weekly instead of the initial twice-weekly bortezomib infusions to decrease neurologic toxicities, and an improvement in safety did not appear to affect efficacy.
Journal ArticleDOI
A prospective comparison of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography-computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and whole-body planar radiographs in the assessment of bone disease in newly diagnosed multiple myeloma
Elena Zamagni,Cristina Nanni,Francesca Patriarca,Emanuela Englaro,Paolo Castellucci,Onelio Geatti,Patrizia Tosi,Paola Tacchetti,Delia Cangini,Giulia Perrone,Michela Ceccolini,Annamaria Brioli,Silvia Buttignol,Renato Fanin,Eugenio Salizzoni,Michele Baccarani,Stefano Fanti,Michele Cavo +17 more
TL;DR: MRI of the spine and pelvis still remains the gold standard imaging technique for the detection of bone marrow involvement in MM but 18F-FDG PET-CT provides additional and valuable information for the assessment of myeloma bone disease in areas not covered by MRI.
