Nanocomposite materials for photocatalytic degradation of pollutants
Francesca Petronella,Alessandra Truppi,Chiara Ingrosso,Tiziana Placido,Marinella Striccoli,Maria Lucia Curri,Angela Agostiano,Roberto Comparelli +7 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a comprehensive overview on the preparation of photocatalytic nanocomposite materials and their application for pollutants degradation is provided, focusing on modern synthetic approaches to synthetize UV and visible light active nanocatalysts, on their post-synthesis surface functionalization and on their incorporation in suitable host matrices toward nanocomposition preparation.
Journal ArticleDOI
UV and solar-based photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants by nano-sized TiO2 grown on carbon nanotubes
Sapia Murgolo,Francesca Petronella,Ruggiero Ciannarella,Roberto Comparelli,Angela Agostiano,M. L. Curri,Giuseppe Mascolo +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a new photocatalyst based on nano-sized TiO2 supported on single wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) with tailored photocatalytic properties upon irradiation by both UV and solar simulated light was successfully employed for the degradation of a mixture of 22 organic pollutants in both ultrapure water and real secondary wastewater effluent.
Journal ArticleDOI
Visible-Light-Active TiO2-Based Hybrid Nanocatalysts for Environmental Applications
Alessandra Truppi,Francesca Petronella,Tiziana Placido,Marinella Striccoli,Angela Agostiano,Maria Lucia Curri,Roberto Comparelli +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a review of the synthetic approaches to synthesize hybrid nanocrystals and discuss the potential applications of such nanostructures in water remediation, abatement of atmospheric pollutants and their use in self-cleaning surfaces.
Journal ArticleDOI
Gram-scale synthesis of UV–vis light active plasmonic photocatalytic nanocomposite based on TiO2/Au nanorods for degradation of pollutants in water
Alessandra Truppi,Francesca Petronella,Tiziana Placido,V. Margiotta,G. Lasorella,Livia Giotta,Cinzia Giannini,Teresa Sibillano,Sapia Murgolo,Giuseppe Mascolo,Angela Agostiano,M. L. Curri,Roberto Comparelli +12 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the photocatalytic performance of anatase TiO2 nanoparticles and Au nanorods was investigated as a function of the calcination temperature in experiment of degradation of water pollutants under both UV and UV-vis irradiation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Photodegradation of nalidixic acid assisted by TiO2 nanorods/Ag nanoparticles based catalyst
Francesca Petronella,S. Diomede,S. Diomede,Elisabetta Fanizza,Giuseppe Mascolo,Teresa Sibillano,Angela Agostiano,M. L. Curri,Roberto Comparelli +8 more
TL;DR: Two different nanosized TiO2-based catalysts supported onto glass with tailored photocatalytic properties upon irradiation by UV light were successfully employed for the degradation of nalidixid acid, a widely diffused antibacterial agent of environmental relevance known to be non-biodegradable.
